Media Engagement
Press Release Protocols
Collaborate with the Festival Team:
Work closely with the festival’s marketing and communications team to ensure your press releases are aligned with the overall messaging and brand of the festival.
If you wish to issue a press release about your performance, first draft your key points and share them with the marketing team. They will help refine the content to ensure consistency with the festival’s tone and messaging.
Submit your draft press releases to Melissa Fergusson, Head of Marketing and Brand Communications, for review and approval. The team will provide feedback and any necessary adjustments before final distribution.
Ensure Consistent Messaging:
Ensure that any public statements, quotes, or details about your performance align with the festival’s approved narrative.
If you’re quoted in a press release, ensure your statements reflect the festival’s inclusive and positive messaging, such as highlighting the cultural significance of your work or the excitement of performing at Tempo.
Media Requests
Handling Media Inquiries:
If approached by media for interviews, comments, or additional information, always liaise with the festival’s marketing team before engaging.
If a journalist contacts you directly for an interview, respond by thanking them for their interest and inform them that the marketing team will coordinate all media interactions.
Direct all media requests and interview opportunities to Melissa Fergusson for approval and coordination.
Seek Approval for Media Statements
• Before sharing any information or statements with the media, seek approval from the festival’s communications team to ensure it aligns with current festival communications.
• Whether it’s a printed interview or a quick media comment, send your intended statements to the marketing team for review to avoid any misalignment with festival messaging.
